1994 - 1999: Destination Marketing
VisitKenya.com was pioneering travel website integrating an online booking engine, one of the earliest examples of direct online reservation and how hotels and tours companies could benefit from a new communication tool called "Internet". The site contributed greatly to the global promotion of Kenya and generated more online bookings than from travel agents on the phone. Bernard Metzger was President & CEO. In 1998, Bernard spearheaded to development of the first WAP (mobile) site in Africa.
1999 - 2004: Travel Trade Communication
Development of cutting-edge local and regional directories and databases for the economic promotion and global marketing to key decision makers, investors, corporate travel and convention and meetings markets. Under founder and CEO Bernard Metzger's leadership, Travel Trade Communication entered into a consultancy agreement with the IFC - International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) to mine and validate consumer data in order to enhance its existing data repository.
2006 - Present: Travelindex
Founded in 2006, the company develops and delivers integrated products and intuitive solutions to increase distribution, drive demand and increase direct revenue streams.
Travelindex is building an authoritative travel industry database on a proprietary technology framework. Data and content are interfacing directly with travel supplier’s websites and reservation systems overcoming limitations imposed by proprietary, closed information systems.
